Repent

Taking inspiration from a traditional Catholic piece done by Theodore S. Gorka, I created a Hindu version of repenting. Depicting in my art are two white men shocked by the presence of a Hindu Goddess. I wanted to showcase the power of realization: the same realization I had when I discovered that the two religions can coexist. Following in suit of a lot of my other works, I decided to use the same ink and pop of color approach. I tend to depend heavily on the use of technique and detail to draw the viewer in. In this piece specifically, I did so by arrangement. The geometry of the altars and triangular focal movement draws the eyes into the center and straight to the Hindu Goddess. She holds the cross as a peace offering to the white men. She, nor her beliefs, are inherently evil. She is the same light that they behold upon their own God. A false God does not exist, for both beings are created under the same prefaces. After two years, my child self realized this.
