Colors of Mind

Art

We are a nonprofit that partners with licensed & board certified art therapists to help children have access to art as a mental health aid in the Austin area

Our Mission Statement

We want all children to be able to have an outlet, a way for them to express themselves, and by using art therapeutically we hope to help the new generation have a brighter future built on a foundation of strong mental health.

What we do

Starting out small, we have partnered with licensed & board certified art therapist Bethany Sweeden, who will provide lessons in art as a therapeutic experience for children in Austin and the surrounding areas, funded by us. We believe in the power art can have in improving one’s mental health, and want to spread this to other children who might find they need it as much as we did.

Why us

We have founded this nonprofit due to our belief in its mission and impact on the children of today. As teenagers ourselves, we understand how chaotic this world can feel, from school to relationships to the future, stressors are constant in our lives. To avoid feeling overwhelmed we ourselves have leaned into art and used it as an outlet for our mental health. The mental health crisis in younger populations has become so prevalent and having noticed this issue we thought it to be our job to take action. We took the initiative to create this nonprofit organization, as well as obtaining a 501(c)3 tax exemption, hoping our efforts would be able to make a difference. We know firsthand the weight of mental health struggles, and wish to help any and all children we can with their own mental health journey by incorporating the power of art therapeutically.
